What is the TimberNook experience?
When your child joins TimberNook Orlando, you’ll quickly realize it’s not your typical nature program. We weave the therapeutic aspects of nature with a unique understanding of child development, using the environment as inspiration for creative play opportunities that challenge the mind, body, and the senses.
Providers and parents alike speak often of the “magic” they witness at TimberNook… even over the course of a single week.
Children “live and breathe” the stories we read together out in the wild as they explore the woods, splash in the mud, run through the grass, and so much more.
Campers might feel inspired to build their own castle and beanstalk out in the woods after reading “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
After we read, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”, the children may just want to go on their own “bear” hunt. What do you think they’ll find?
No matter what we’re reading, with the turn of every day there’s a new story that allows kids to dive into their imaginations.

Where children learn through play, Nature’s way
When children play with TimberNook, they learn and grow at the same time.
TimberNook was founded by a pediatric occupational therapist. As an official TimberNook partner, our Orlando camps combine an understanding of child development with the therapeutic aspects of nature. These outdoor programs support every aspect of the growing child.

How TimberNook Works
TimberNook experiences are carefully crafted to provide the ultimate sensory experience — challenging a child’s mind, body, and senses through meaningful play opportunities. We might begin camp with a story, followed by an arts and crafts activity, and then explorations of the great outdoors (including our favorite – playing in the mud!).
Free play is a cornerstone of TimberNook. Our grounds are sensory-rich and full of learning opportunities:

Children can learn so much through play, especially when that play takes place outdoors. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Dr. Peter Gray is an expert on play and its impact on learning, and his insights are worth exploring:
